Tine Bagh, Curator
Tine is an Egyptian/Near Eastern archaeologist in charge of the Glyptotek’s Egyptian, Nubian and Near Eastern collection. Tine’s research is focused mainly on the history of the collection and the archaeology of Egypt, specialising in the Middle Kingdom and the Armana Period.

Cecilie Brøns, Senior Researcher, Curator
Cecilie holds a Mag.Art and PhD in Classical Archaeology and is head of the museum’s interdisciplinary research project into ancient polychromy. Cecilie’s principal research areas include the original painting of Greek and Roman sculpture and architecture, and the sensory experience of ancient art, with a special focus on scent and sound. She also conducts research into ancient textiles, garments, and fashion. She is also a curator in the museum’s collection of Ancient Greek and Roman Art and responsible for the museum’s collections of Palmyrene and Etruscan art.

Julie Lejsgaard Christensen, Curator, PhD Fellow
Julie holds an MA in classical archaeology. Until September 2024, she is on leave from her position as Head of Learning and Audience Engagement to work on a PhD project related to the development of a new display of the Glyptotek’s antiquity collections. Julie is conducting research into how ancient history and the Glyptotek’s collection of antiquities can be made topical and appeal to museum visitors in the 21st century. The project is a collaboration with the Faculty of Arts at Aarhus University and is funded by the New Carlsberg Foundation.

Julie’s work and research revolves around museology, public engagement/interpretation, museum didactics and relationships between the museum and its users, concentrating particularly on the reception of antiquity and museum public engagement/interpretation practice within the field of classicism.

Anna Kærsgaard Gregersen, Curator
Anna holds an MA in Art History and is a curator in the Glyptotek’s collection of French art from the 19th and 20th centuries. In her curatorial practice, she focuses on French painting from c.1870-1950, and on trans-historical and trans-national dialogues – generally between contemporary art and older art and cultural objects.

Anna Manly, Curator
Anna holds a Mag.Art. in Art History and is in charge of the Glyptotek’s collection of Danish sculpture, painting and drawing from the 19th and 20th centuries. She is also the editor of the Glyptotek’s catalogues and books.

Anna Minor, Academic Researcher
Anna holds an MA in Classical Archaeology and is affiliated with the museum’s Collection of Ancient Greek and Roman Art, working on the new display of the permanent collection and on various collection-related tasks, including operation, research and the curation of special exhibitions. Her chief area of responsibility is Greek and Roman sculpture. Anna’s research interests include iconoclasm, urbanity, and natural resources, and ancient sculpture and portraiture.

Jens Stenger, Senior Researcher
Jens holds a Dr. rer. nat. in physics and is affiliated with the museum’s research project on polychromy, in charge of the scientific investigations into the original painting of the museum’s artefacts from ancient Greece and Rome. His research interests also include colour and light, technical art history and modern materials. Read more about the museum’s research project on polychromy here.

Christine Horwitz Tommerup, Curator
Christine holds an MA in art history and is a curator in the Glyptotek’s collection of French and Danish art from the 19th and 20th centuries. Her principal areas of research relate to French art. For example, she was responsible for the curation of the collection of French painting.

She is currently working on a PhD thesis that takes a detailed look at how the private antiquity collection of the French sculptor Auguste Rodin was crucial vis-à-vis his late experiments and self-mythologisation.

History

Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek was founded by the brewer, Carl Jacobsen (1842-1914), who was one of the great industrial magnates of the 19th century
