Look forward to reacquainting yourself with selected works from the Glyptotek’s impressive collection of French masterpieces created by the 19th century’s greatest masters, including Monet, Rousseau, Courbet, Cézanne, Manet, van Gogh and Degas.
And experience for the first time Théodore Rousseau’s intense “The Rock Oak” (Le chêne de roche) which the Glyptotek has just acquired with generous support from the New Carlsberg Foundation.
Trees were, right from the start, the motif of choice for Théodore Rousseau (1812-1867) and trees continued to play an important role throughout his whole career. “There are no words which can describe that tree,” remarked one critic. “Such trees are only to be found in the realm of legend.”
