You are invited to the opening of the Glyptotek’s special exhibition Suzanne Valadon – model, painter, rebel – an opportunity to discover one of the influential artists in the effervescent Parisian art world of the 19th century. You can visit the exhibition at any time during the day. From 4.30 to 7.00 pm there will be free Carlsberg beer, opening speeches and music in the Winter Garden.
About the exhibition
The exhibition will introduce you to the French painter, Suzanne Valadon, who started her career as a model for the likes of Renoir, Puvis de Chavannes and Toulouse-Lautrec. With her gender, class and lifestyle, she defied her social destiny, paving new ways for art with uncompromising portraits and nude studies painted with powerful contours, visible brushstrokes and saturated colours. The exhibition features not only her extraordinary works, but also tells the story of an exceptional woman who succeeded in transforming her working-class background from a disadvantage to a unique entrée into the world of art.
