The French artist Pierre Bonnard (1867-1947) painted from memory. Every day he makes sketches and notes his impressions of his surroundings and takes photographs of his favourite motifs to be able to archive them for future use. Later, when work on a painting begins, he paints from this world of experience. Together with his original use of colour Bonnard creates paintings with complex picture planes and motifs bordering on the abstract. Why not join a guided tour which goes really close to Bonnard’s method? We will also work with the practice of Slow-Looking designed to enhance your experience of Pierre Bonnard’s work.
