The Nordic String Quartet plays a programme featuring two highly-contrasting string quartets. Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 18, No. 2 (also known as the ‘Bow and Curtsey’ Quartet) is all lightness, abandon, grace and fun. Meanwhile, as its title suggests, Sibelius’s Voces intimae (Intimate/Inner Voices) expresses introversion and inner drama, though also entwined with exquisite Nordic melodies and moods. The Nordic String Quartet, this year’s winner of the P2 Prize for ‘Album of the Year, New Classical’, have performed at countless venues and music festivals both in Scandinavia and around the world.
