For more than 25 years, the Eskær Trio have been one of the most experienced and musically engaging chamber ensembles in Denmark. In this concert, the three musicians perform two piano trios – by Haydn and Brahms.
In the Haydn work, the strings interact with the piano brilliantly and intuitively. This beautiful composition features shifts in tempo and a surprising key, which is bright and light in expression, yet never without a touch of melancholy.
Brahms’s piano trio is darker and more dramatic, featuring romantic textures and intense contrasts. The third movement adds a floating weightlessness, before concluding brutally and insistently.
