The Arild Quartet – Beethoven and Brahms

/ 25. September 2022
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

This is a golden opportunity to hear the Arild Quartet, who have been one of the leading chamber ensembles in Denmark since 2008.

Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 6 is a triumphant conclusion to his Opus 18 string quartet collection, composed for Prince Joseph Lobkowitz. It ends with the melancholy fourth movement ‘La Malincolia’ to be played colla più gran delicatezza – with exquisite finesse. Brahms’s String Quartet No. 2 features masterful musical drama – a mixture of turbulent complexity and nourishing warmth. It has an occasional Hungarian flavour – particularly in the canon of the second movement and the effervescent dance of the Finale.

Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). String Quartet in B major, Op. 18, No. 6 (1800)
Allegro con brio
Adagio ma non troppo
Scherzo. Allegro
‘La Malincolia’. Adagio

Johannes Brahms (1833-1897). String Quartet No. 2 in A minor, Op. 51 (1873)
Allegro ma non troppo
Andante moderato
Quasi minuetto, moderato
Finale. Allegro non assai
