The Secret Garden

/ 12. February 2022

Winter break activity for children and adults in weeks 7 and 8.

In a hyperaesthetic, secret garden, created at the Glyptotek by POPPYKALAS (floral artist), MYKA (choreographer) and Di Garbi (musician), the whole family can savour a meditative, sensuous, musical experience. Sit or lie down on ‘carpet islands’ in the Central Hall in a fragrant, budding, fairy-tale landscape and surrounded by fabric flowers, while marvelling at dancing flower creatures.

The concept draws inspiration from a Japanese kind of therapy known as ‘forest bathing’, which unites body, soul and nature. Di Garbi will perform the newly-composed work live at each session, accompanying the dancers as they tell a non-verbal story.

Enjoy a family outing to The Secret Garden – a tribute to community and nature, an exploration of slowness and sensitiveness, and a reminder of the healing powers of nature.

POPPYKALAS is the brainchild of the floral artist Thilde Maria Haukohl Kristensen. Drawing her inspiration from flowers, she creates magical, sensuous, ultra-aesthetic universes, which are famous both in Denmark and abroad.

MYKA is the brainchild of My Grönholdt. MYKA is a dance company that specialises in sensory, aesthetic, top-quality theatrical experiences children, babies and their adults. MYKA has been selected for the Danish Arts Foundation’s 2020-2022 Career Programme – The Young Artistic Elite.

DI GARBI is a pianist, singer and composer. Her music is poetic and dreamy, featuring an underlying darkness.
