Winter Yoga at The Glyptotek – SOLD OUT

/ 19. December 2019
5:00 PM - 6:30 PM

The idea of The Glyptotek is to provide an oasis in the heart of the city. The distinctive architecture of the Museum with the lush Winter Garden at its heart presents visitors with an informal and delightful opportunity to unwind away from life’s hustle and bustle: “… and, when they see the palms, they might also turn their thoughts to the statues.” So said Carl Jacobsen, the founder of the Glyptotek, more than a hundred years ago.

Nowadays, we might have an even greater need for calm and contemplation – especially during the busy Christmas season. So The Glyptotek is inviting guests to take part in a relaxing winter yoga session in the Central Hall, enjoying a well-deserved break surrounded by ancient statues.

Winter yoga is for anyone who likes the idea of inner focus and connecting their body with their breath. The session is open to both beginners and people who may already have previous experience with yoga. Yoga mats will be ready for you at the Museum, so all you have to do is show up in comfortable clothes you can move in.

Who knows? After your winter yoga session, you may have renewed energy to “turn your thoughts to the statues”.
Make sure to arrive a bit early so you have time to lock your belongings in a locker in the basement cloakroom. Please note that you may not bring your own yoga mat, and that there are no changing facilities at the museum.

About the teacher:
The teacher, Joséphine Renard has been practising yoga for 20 years and has been teaching since 2014. Her philosophy is that yoga is for everyone – even people who cannot touch their toes, who have injuries or who might carry a few extra kilos. She bases her exercises on the breath for focusing on ‘landing in the body’ by connecting movements to the rhythm of your breathing. You can read more about Joséphine on
