Archaemenid enamel earrings

Archaemenid enamel earrings

These earrings are inspired by a pair of earrings with cloisonné decoration from the Archaemenid Persian period.

Cloisonné is enamel work, where enamel is separated by thin walls of metal.

These earrings were found in Susa, one of the capitals of the Archaemenid Persian Empire, in the tomb of a high-ranking person lying in his bronze sarcophagus, adorned with all his jewels, a silver cup, two alabaster vases and two coins beside him , which has made it possible to date the tomb to the end of the fifth century BC.
