The Glyptotek’s Gauguin exhibition opens in Berlin

The Glyptotek’s critically acclaimed special exhibition Paul Gauguin – Why Are You Angry? opens at the Alte Nationalgalerie in Berlin on Saturday 26 March 2022.

The exhibition has already received a lot of attention in Germany, and we are delighted that the Glyptotek’s Gauguin works and exhibition can reach a wider and international audience.

The exhibition looks at Gauguin’s oeuvre – which was shaped by Western, colonial ideas of ‘the exotic’ and ‘the erotic’ –, juxtaposing the works with historical material from both Gauguin’s past and his present, and with international contemporary art.

Paul Gauguin – Why Are You Angry? was on display at the Glyptoteket from November 11 2020 – August 1 2021 and was curated by the Glyptotek’s Anna Kærsgaard Gregersen. Read about the exhibition here.

Alte Nationalgalerie in Berlin will show the exhibition from March 26 – July 10 2022. Read about the exhibition in Berlin here.
