The collection of works by the sculptor H.W. Bissen is the largest representation of the work of an individual artist in Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek. The brewer Carl Jacobsen and his father, J.C. Jacobsen, were both very interested in Bissen’s work and the Glyptotek was from the outset filled with his sculptures. The present colleciton includes both statues and small sketches in clay.
Among these the original sculptures rescued from the fire at Christiansborg in 1884 are of particular importance.
